Imagine studying hard for years, having the happiest day of your life when graduating with a degree in medicine with a bright future ahead, and then having your whole life stop in its tracks and at 29, being diagnosed with breast cancer.
We are asking to raise money for a first responder, a young woman, 29, that not even a year ago graduated with her physician assistant degree and thought life would be great. She was diagnosed with breast cancer two months ago. She is a health care professional working in a level one trauma center emergency department, at the epicenter of the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, her health insurance isn’t covering her medical treatments that are recommended by her physicians. She wants a family in the future and her fertility/egg freezing costs were denied by her insurance. Despite the egg freezing being recommended by her physician. There is a treatment option that helps prevent hair loss during chemotherapy, that was denied by her insurance as well. She has to pay out of pocket for her fertility treatments, her hair maintenance treatments, her cancer treatments and has had tons of lost wages due to not being able to work because her immune system is compromised. All of this coupled with having to pay off massive school loans for her PA degree. The last thing she should be worried about is money yet every time she speaks she is worried about how she is going to pay for everything. No one should have to worry about how they will be able to survive financially after surviving cancer. Please help her cause.
