Please Help My Family Through This Unimaginable Time
Hi everyone,
My name is Melissa, and I’m writing this with a heavy heart, asking for your help and support during what has been the most difficult time of our lives. My family and I have been through so much in the past couple of years, and now we find ourselves in a position we never thought we’d be in—turning to the kindness of others to get through.
In the past year alone, I lost my job after a long battle with health issues, including multiple surgeries, blood transfusions, and a pulmonary embolism. I returned to work just one week after surgery for fear of losing my job . A month ago, I fell and tore my rotator cuff, and now I need surgery to repair it. These medical challenges have left us drowning in bills we simply cannot afford.
A year prior, I was wrongfully arrested while protecting my husband, Alex, during an incident where he was injured. The experience left me separated from my children, Liani and Liam, for an entire month . When I returned home, I lost my job, making a tough situation even harder.
I eventually found new work, and for a moment, I thought things were turning around . My manager, someone I trusted and admired, seemed supportive. But after only two slow months, I was let go without a second chance, leaving me back at square one. On top of it all, creditors have started garnishing my paychecks, leaving us with nothing to get by.
One of our cars is completely out of commission , and the other has multiple issues. These vehicles are our lifelines for school, therapies for Liam, and my many medical appointments.
Adding to the heartbreak, one of our neighbors recently called DYFS (Division of Youth and Family Services) on our family. Instead of reaching out to offer support or ask how they could help, they chose to involve an already overwhelmed system . It’s devastating to think someone could choose judgment and escalation over compassion and understanding. We’re doing everything we can to get by, but this has added even more stress to an already overwhelming situation.
Galatians 6:2 reminds us to "Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ." If you see someone struggling, approach with love, not judgment. We’re all here to lift one another up.
Despite all of this, I refuse to let these challenges break my spirit ✨. I continue to smile, dance, and celebrate life because it’s too precious to waste. But the reality is, we’re struggling to provide for our kids. My son, Liam, who is autistic and has celiac disease, requires gluten-free foods that are significantly more expensive. My husband, Alex, has been my rock, but his job loss due to company mergers has added to our financial strain. He’s been applying everywhere while navigating long-term effects of COVID pneumonia .
We’re relying on food pantries to survive and are desperate to keep a roof over our heads. We’re humbly asking for your support to help with:
Basic needs like groceries, utilities, and rent.
Medical bills and legal expenses.
Ensuring stability and resources for Liani and Liam.
If you’re able to contribute, even the smallest amount would mean the world to us . If you can’t donate, please consider sharing our story so it might reach someone who can help.
Thank you for reading and for your compassion during this unimaginable time. Your kindness and support give us hope .
With love and gratitude,
Melissa, Alex, Liani, and Liam
