On Wednesday, November 27, 2019 I took Benji to our PCP thinking he had the flu and we were told to go to the emergency room for immediate bloodwork and from the emergency room we were rushed via ambulance to the pediatric intensive care unit at Phoenix Children’s Hospital where Benjamin was diagnosed with high-risk TCell acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
A team of oncologist were immediately assembled and Benji began intensive chemotherapy and steroid treatments. He’s also had to undergo cranial radiation at Mayo Clinic. Over the course of the last year, I lost my job due to his illness and since leukemia treatment is 3 years long we’re still in the thick of it. I am unable to return to a traditional full time job for the time being as his care routine does not allow for me to do so.
Of course having lost my job and medical insurance, this is been a very stressful year to say the least. Our hope is for me to be able to stay home with Benjamin for the remainder of his treatment and see him well.
We understand it is a very trying time for a lot of people and we say God bless you to everyone and that will get through this together. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers for Benjamin and our family
