I am setting this up to raise money for Forgotten Veterans UK a local ex military charity based in Portsmouth. For to long now it has been a stigma to man up or get on with it! The amount of ex servicemen/women that feel they are unable to talk or express their feelings or gain an understanding in their particular diagnosis I promise you there is a place for your needs.
I had a mental breakdown in the summer of 2020 who which i came close to taking my own life. Something which I don’t feel comfortable talking about however that is a part of my life where everything changed.
Luckily for me, my wife reached to Gary Weaving CEO of FVUK.
I spent 5 nights in Gary and his teams care to which I met a variety of veterans men and women all with their own individual problems.
The treatment I received was immediate. I was given access to a psychiatrist and set up for weekly calls for 12 weeks. I even still have support of an extremely gifted life coach based in the office who helps you get your life back on track!! I was able to talk to any of the volunteers about my problems and the most important part was I was able to be myself whilst I was there. For some veterans going somewhere new can always be slightly daunting or you have your guard up. Your just able to relax and have a laugh with people who are going through the same things you are. They’re also there for you when it gets serious too.
My friend Jack Johnson and I (both ex Royal Artillery) are racing the South Coast Challenge on the 3rd/4th September 2022. We will be racing in the 100k Ultra Challenge spread across two days in the South Downs from Eastbourne to Arundel.
If you can give even £1 to this amazing charity for veterans who need the support please do. Thank you for reading.
