!Se solicita ayuda urgente para Andrés Canul, de 18 años de edad, quien sufrió un accidente al caer del techo de su casa, fracturándose las vertebras cervicales y quedando paralizado de la mitad inferior del cuerpo. Ha sido operado en la Clínica Mérida para alinear sus vértebras y su recuperación es aún inicierta.

Andrés y su familia viven en Punta Laguna, Yucatán, una comunidad maya aledaña a un área protegida. Su papá, Eulogio Canul, ha trabajado como asistente en las investigaciones sobre el mono araña que se llevan a cabo en esta área desde hace 20 años y su abuelo, Serapio Canul, fue quien inició las labores para proteger la selva y la biodiversidad del sitio hace más de 30 años. Todos viven de forma sencilla y no tienen los medios para cubrir el costo de la operación y la rehabilitación de Andrés. Si bien hemos recaudado algunos fondos para cubrir estos costos, necesitamos de tu apoyo para poder cubrir el tratamiento completo.

Urgent HELP! Andres Canul, who is 18 years old, fell off of the roof of their home, fracturing his cervical vertebrae which caused the lower half of his body to be paralyzed. He has received surgery in the Clinica Merida to align his vertebrae and his recovery is still uncertain.

Andres and his family live in Punta Laguna, Yucatan, a Maya community near a protected area. His father, Eulogio Canul, has worked as an assistant in the research on spider monkeys that has been carried out on site for the past 20 years and his grandfather, Serapio Canul, began working to protect the forest and its biodiversity more than 30 years ago. All of them lead a simple life and do not have the means to cover the costs of Andres’ surgery and rehabilitation. While we have been able to cover a part of these costs, we still need your support to cover the costs of the full treatment.
