Pebbles is the true definition of a rescue pup. She was found by Rita's father, left behind by people that lived the house over. After investigating, he found a new born pup whimpering, covered in fleas. He nursed her back to health and lovingly cared for her, He unfortunately passed a few years after. Since then she has served as a furry, loving link to Rita's father after his passing. She's never needed rescuing again until now, and something as easy as spreading the word about this sweet girl could make all the difference. About four years ago she was diagnosed with diabetes. Thankfully, through a lot of love and diligent care we have managed that without incident. It never affected her though, she's continually had a love of life and everyone and everything that comes with it. Just as recent as a few weeks ago she has been hiking mountains, running on beaches (her favorite time of year is leashless on higgins beach), and leading the way on trails in the woods. Unfortunately lately, we have learned a hard truth. That is, that a loss of appetite or an upset stomach that many dog owners would be able to wait out and hope that their sweet furbaby recovers from with time and patience, for us is a life altering situation. Nothing she has been diagnosed with is fatal, unless we cannot manage her treatment. So, it does require patience and funds. The last few weeks Pebbles has been in and out of the hospital mostly to manage her diabetes until her appetite returns, racking up in excess of $15,000 of bills in the process. We had always promised ourselves that we would do everything and anything to keep this special pup on her feet, without pain as long as we could, no hesitation.
And with your help by sharing her story, we can hopefully continue that fight and have the patience she deserves to recover. If you have met her out, maybe seen her sitting on a barstool next to us, sunbathing on our front porch, or just on a beach or a walk...then you know there's nothing she loves more than trying to catch a strangers gaze to get some pets and offer love to a friend she hasn't met yet. Help us not make a decision to say goodbye to such a loving and sweet pup for purely financial reasons. And hold out hope that with your help you'll have the pleasure of running into this sweet girl and letting her thank you herself
