Help Luke father of 8 in his recovery after been hit by car
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Kayla and I'm organising this fundraiser in support of Luke's recovery. Luke was involved in a devastating hit and run incident that happened this Easter. He sustained a traumatic brain injury which resulted in him undergoing emergency surgery and he later had to have the bone in his right brain removed due to serious complications. He
was then asleep for 19 days. Despite all that he has already faced, he woke up to the fight of his life. His road to recovery is far from over.
Together, Luke and I share 8 children (aged 2-19) one of which is in heaven whom we carry in our hearts dearly. Luke has always been a loving father and the strength and anchor of our family. He continues to be an inspiration for us as he displays remarkable strength and bravely faces the challenges that come his way such as memory loss. He will also still require months of rehabilitation and outpatient treatment like physiotherapy and speech therapy.
This incident has not only rocked Luke's world but our entire family's. Our children have been really missing their dad and are struggling to adjust to the sudden changes. My heart breaks for my children as I watch helplessly as their hearts break a little more every day that their dad isn't home. I feel the pain that they are experiencing but struggle to fully comprehend or express.
However, in spite of the pain and uncertainty I too feel, I try my best every day to put a brave front for our children as we navigate through Luke's recovery. With the rising cost of living and losing my other half in an instant, I have been persevering but also struggling to keep afloat with the weight of our big family on my shoulders.
I created this fundraiser in a humble plea for help. All funds will go to essential needs for our family such as food, services our children may need to support them cope and process this tragedy. It will also help ease the financial burden of transport and fuel costs for our daily commute to visit Luke while he recovers and our children's commute to and from school. Every donation, big or small, will help our family and I am so grateful for the friends and family who have already reached out and offered their support.
