In May, my life was turned upside down. I survived domestic violence that left me without a job, a car, or a home — all in the same week. Since then, I’ve been homeless with my one-year-old daughter, trying to find stability. Without family or support, I was forced to rely on her father — my abuser — which sadly led to DCF stepping in this July. My daughter was placed in care because she was still being exposed to violence, despite my efforts to protect her.

In August, I finally secured a job, and with it came a wonderful support group I never had before. I am learning how to navigate life as a single parent and I see my daughter weekly, working hard in court with the goal of reunification soon. Every extra shift I take brings me one step closer to stability, but the road is still long.

One of my biggest barriers right now is transportation. Without a car, I can only see my daughter once a week, and getting to work is a constant challenge. I’ve been given the opportunity to join a program that can provide me with a vehicle, but I need $1,000 to make it happen. This car would mean everything: more visits with my daughter, reliable transportation for work, and a major step toward stable housing.

If you are able to contribute, no matter how small, it will directly help me reunite with my daughter and build the safe, loving home she deserves. If you cannot donate but would like to help, I am also in need of baby girl items as I prepare for her return.

This is the hardest story I’ve ever had to share. I feel ashamed for staying in a situation that cost me so much, but I refuse to give up. I am doing everything in my power to rebuild, heal, and fight for my daughter.
