We are reaching out to you today to share the story of an incredible young girl named Ruby. At just 13 years old, Ruby has already achieved so much and has touched the hearts of everyone who knows her.

Ruby is a straight-A student, known for her dedication and love for learning. Her infectious happiness and personality are a testament to her vibrant spirit. Since the age of 4, Ruby has been enchanting us all with her talent on the bagpipes, a skill started learning at the young age of 4. Recently, she has also taken up competitive swimming, showcasing her versatility and determination.

Ruby is not just an exceptional individual; she is also a beloved sister to Meghan, Katie, Frankie, Sawyer and stepsister to Matthew, Anthony and Vanessa. Her parents, Maggie and Steve, along with her stepmoms, Rosalie and Malory, and her grandmothers, Donna and Sheila, are so incredibly proud of her.

A week ago, Ruby exhibited signs resembling a typical flu.  However, her condition rapidly escalated into a serious bacterial infection that affected her heart, leading to endocarditis and the formation of blood clots in her brain.  As a result of the infection and these clots, she unfortunately suffered a series of about six strokes.  To save her life, Ruby underwent both brain surgery and open-heart surgery.  After several days in critical condition Ruby is now gradually on the path to recovery at Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto.

Ruby will need extensive physical therapy for many months to come. We are launching this GoFundMe campaign to support Ruby and her family during this challenging time. Your contributions will help cover medical expenses, therapy costs, and many other needs such as home care, accommodations, meals, tutoring, and any other needs that may arise for Ruby.
