Hello, my name is Andrew
I'm a long-distance open water swimmer. Ever since first hearing about the English Channel swim, I have had the dream to one day swim the English Channel solo.
Accomplishing such a feet that only a select number of people have been able to do accomplish.
It usually takes 3 years to put together a swim like this and comes with a high cost, between booking a boat/ captain, putting together a crew to ensure a swimmer has the safest swim possible and actually getting a slot to make the swim.
However i have been very fortunate to receive a number 1 slot (1st swimmer to attempt in chosen time frame) for the upcoming UK summer from July 7th - 21st, which is nothing short of a miracle in itself.
This challenge is is not only hard because of its 21-mile swim (34km) but its water is usually less then 16degs, the tides are very challenging, the current switches frequently, the winds, storms, small and large boat traffic and lots of marine life present. This swim is often referred to as
"The Mount Everest of swimming"
I want nothing more in my life than to complete this swim and will do whatever it takes.
However, This challenge is very expensive.
The Swim, Boat, Captain, navigator, observer, timer and crew comes in at $10,500 alone.
The funds raised will solely be used for these expenses to complete the Channel Swim, and any remaining funds will go towards flights and accommodation.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and if you feel like donating, it would be greatly appreciated. Anything helps
Regards
