It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we share the unexpected passing of Nicholas Merritt Johnson, 27, of Whitesville, KY. Nicholas left this world far too soon, and while our hearts are broken, we are grateful for the incredible light and love he brought into our lives.

Nicholas was more than a son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend — he was a kind soul with an infectious laugh, a generous heart, and a free spirit. He loved horseback riding, late nights with friends by the bonfire, playing cornhole, shooting pool, and showing up for the people he loved without hesitation. His connection with nature and animals reflected his peaceful, joyful soul.

Nicholas is survived by his loving parents Scotty and Charlotte Johnson, brother Matthew (Ayriel), sister Ashley, niece Emma, nephew Cooper, grandparents Tony and Sandra Johnson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alva and Joyce Merritt, and aunt Sherry Mattingly.
