Please Help Me to Walk Again
Donation protected
Your love and support mean so much to me. I am truly blessed to have you all in my life. As many of you know, in January of 2012, I was feeling overly fatigued and unable to do the simplest tasks. Picking up a gallon of milk or my 4 pound puppy was like lifting a truck! After numerous doctors appointments, I was referred to a neurologist. It didn't take long for him to find out the correct diagnosis of Polymyositis.
I have been unable to walk for over a year and have been told that a sit-to-stand/gait trainer is a wonderful way to get me going again. This piece of equipment, the Rifton TRAM is phenomenal it is not overly expensive, but is unfortunately not affordable for me at this time.
I know very few people that are not in the medical community that have even heard of this autoimmune disease but I can tell you it is indeed rare. Polymyositis, or PM, is translated literally to many muscle inflammation. It affects mostly the larger muscles of the body including the muscles that support the neck, shoulders, upper back, arms, hips and thighs.

The good news is that Polymyositis can go into a remission state forever if I get the proper therapy. Aquatic Therapy is a great option but getting to an ADA approved pool is sometimes a challenge. Another great option that can be used anytime is the Rifton TRAM, which will aid me in transfers on days when I am far to weak to move from my wheelchair to my bed or bedside commode. It will also allow me to stand and stretch the affected muscles, increase circulation in my lower extremities, relieve and even help prevent pressure sores. And finally, the best part is it will teach me to walk again, first with the aid of a harness but slowly allowing me to put more and more of my own weighting my legs to once again walk by myself.
Your love, prayers, and friendship are of great help, but if you could see to make a small donation it will be greatly appreciated.
