“A people’s team supported by the people” // Help Danish Skimarathon Team in their continued writing of Danish sports history

We created Danish sports history on our own, but now we need your help to continue this skiing fairytale by skiers from a country without mountains and snow. We are the first Danish pro tour team ever on the long distance championships circuit Ski Classics. The team is build by busy workers and family men that has a passion for xc skiing. We wanted to create a skiing team build as the equivalent of a cycling team that we know very well from Denmark. We finished the first season consisting of 14 stages throughout Europe with Vasaloppet, Marcialonga and Birkebeinnerrennet as the most famous ski races.

To understand our races in the long distance ski circuit, think about the Tour de France in Cycling, just that the stages are spread out during the winter season. We have ambitions to do even better in our 2nd season and get even more direct TV transmission, get more publicity in the skiing environment based on our not so usual background. We have chosen to keep our identity as a team without a main sponsor. Therefore we ask you as an individual or representative of a business to support our team with even a small amount and become part of our history as a peoples team supported by the people. We also want to continue promoting the xc ski sport combined with travel to areas where this is possible.

We created this almost impossible project also thinking about cycling history back in the days. Hard working labourers still managed to go and do cycling races after work and in between their duties at home, doing the almost impossible mentally and physically. Along this inspiration we also had in mind the first ever pro cycling team in Danish sport history created in 1998. We wanted to do some of the same, but in cross country skiing and hence create our own story in the reflection of Danish sports history.

We are motivated to continue battling it out on skis with our friends from other Scandinavian and European countries where most of them has far better possibilities and culture within xc skiing. This is not an easy challenge, they are very strong and especially the Norwegian and Swedish teams have big budgets! But we have our place in the history of xc skiing long distance racing, like Vasaloppet (Sweden) and the tale of King Gustav being chased by… the Danes I.e ;-)

This is in short how we created the foundation of our team and we still want to be individual in our tale, but not alone in our story, hence we ask you to participate.

Be a part of Danish & Scandinavian sports history and support the continued existence of our project based on passion and real people with a good story. We are 5 male and 3 female skiers this winter. Even a small amount makes a difference in our many expenses for travel, lodging, waxing skis, material, licence, clothes and by the way cross country skiers also eat quite a lot ;-).
