Jamin's Finger Restoration Fund

I am Kathy Conn, proud momma of that awesome bunch of kids most of you know. Today I'm asking for help from family & friends for my son, Jamin. He and his wife, Frances, recently pulled up stakes and, using all their available resources, followed their dream to move to Australia. You know...one of the "young and in love" things you do. Of course, establishing yourself in a foreign country is never easy but on top of that, they were dealt a huge blow this week.
Jamin was working with a chop-saw on Sunday (US time) and it tried to eat his hand. His middle finger on his left hand (of course, he's left handed) was chewed up pretty badly and the ones on either side didn't come out unscathed. The saw broke his finger bone (better than sawing through it), chopped through several middle finger tendons as well as partially severing one on his index finger.
After a night's stay in the hospital, with emergency surgery they were able to bolt the bone back together, re-attach the tendons, and repair the tissues. Fortunately, the nerves they thought may have been severed were still whole - just traumatized by all the damage. A nurse told him he was fortunate - that particular hospital happened to be the best in the entire country for taking care of hands. He was discharged later that day with a cast on his hand and forearm. The happy prognosess is for a full recovery of all function of his hand and fingers in six weeks or so.
So - why a "Go Fund Me" campaign? In order to facilitate better access to work and get rid of a daily 4 -5 hour train commute to work, they have just moved into Sydney from the small community where they first settled. So before the accident happened, the bank account was already drained. After the accident, the hospital required they pay for the hospital stay immediately. The surgeon and anesthetist's bills will come later. A wonderful hospital lady looked for every way she could to help ease the load, but was very limited because of the type of visa Jamin has.
Jamin and Frances were able to make arrangements for a balance increase on a credit card - with the funds being available for just five days. This means they have to be paid back to the credit card company by Friday of this week. (2/19/16)
It is not clear how much Jamin will be able to work for awhile. He is definitely a lefty trying to work with only a right hand. And his free-lance work was bringing in just enough to get by.
Funds raised through this campaign will help pay their huge medical expenses and keep them alive while Jamin's hand heals. The immediate need of $2500 is to raise funds to pay the credit card by Friday. The remainder will be used to pay the surgeon and anesthetist and other bills related.
I've decided it stinks to be mom and half-a-world away when disaster strikes. I would love to be able to help ease the stress of Jamin not being able to work and facing huge financial bills with no solution in sight. And I will be forever grateful to you, our loved family and friends, for any help you are able to give. Thank you SO MUCH from the bottom of my heart. And all praise to the Lord for preventing what could have been a devastating ending.
