My name is Kristin Tavernetti and my daughter was one of 86 Kent 8th graders who got to go on the annual class trip to Washington DC during Spring break, 2022. For our daughter, going to DC with her peers was an impactful educational experience. She got to see and explore, firsthand, many historical sites she and her classmates had studied during the year.
In terms of the number of attendees, the 2022 trip was record-setting. This was partly because a Kent teacher started a GoFundMe page, like this one, to raise money for scholarships to help those students who wished to go but couldn’t afford to. Last year, the cost of the trip was $3,175 per student.
Wouldn’t it be great if we could replicate this success for Kent’s Class of ‘23?
As a community, we have the power to make this possible. Please consider giving what you can to help make the next Washington D.C. trip affordable for more Kent 8th graders. 100% of all donations received will go toward funding this specific need. Any excess will be rolled over to the following year/s DC trips.
You can also help by spreading the word about the GoFundMe page to others in our community who may be interested in helping.
Thank you!
