Hi, My name is Lakesha Wimbley. I was diagnosed with Congestive Heart Failure and Cardiomyopathy in 1999. I had open heart surgery in 2001 at Emory Hospital where the doctors repaired my mitral valve. My repair lasted longer than it was expected, almost 20 years. This past March, I began to feel exhausted. After several doctor visits, I was told that my mitral valve must be replaced with a mechanical valve. The medical expenses are very high for this surgery and I need financial help! My husband is out of work due to back injury and we have been making things work, but this surgery will hit my family hard. I also have a catering business, Grandma's Hands, which has been a financial blessing to us. It has given us much needed relief financially, however, after this surgery I will not be able to work at my normal job or run my business for a while. My surgery is scheduled for December 8th, 2021 at St Joseph's Hospital and I will need to pay for a portion of the bill ($5,000) by December 1st. After my surgery, the remainder of my bill must be payed in full, as well as paying for the medicine and after care. I enjoy taking care of my family and friends, but this time I am the one who needs taking care of. Any assistance is greatly appreciated!
