Help Give a Beautiful Farewell to an Incredible Mum and Friend

Dear friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers,

It is with the heaviest heart that I share the passing of my beautiful mum, Rachel Montgomery, on January 11th, 2025. After being diagnosed with cancer in 2019, she fought with incredible strength, grace, and determination for over five years. But despite her courage and our hopes, the disease took her from us far too soon.

Mum wasn’t just my world; she was a light to everyone she met. As an award-winning makeup artist, she had a rare talent for seeing beauty in others and bringing it to life. Whether she was preparing a model for a photo shoot, supporting performers, or sharing her skills with students, she touched so many lives with her kindness and artistry.

Born and raised in Botany, Mum had an infectious love for music, creativity, and connection. She always put others first, offering her heart and energy without hesitation. Now, as her only daughter, I am faced with the overwhelming task of honouring her life and legacy by organising her funeral—a farewell she so deeply deserves.

The long journey of cancer brought significant financial challenges, and unfortunately, we are struggling to cover the funeral costs. That’s why I’m turning to you, our community, for help. Whether you knew my mum personally or have been touched by a similar story, any contribution—big or small—will make a difference and help give her the goodbye she deserves.
