Hello friends! I normally wouldn't do this but my family and I are in dire need! As of June 2023 I was diagnosed with MERRF (Mitochondria Epilepsy with Ragged Red Fiber) a rare genetic disorder which is a multiple system break down. It's main effects is it kills your musles, which causes neuropathy, and it messes with your nerves and burns your energy making everyday tasks that much more difficult. With it I also have a form of epilepsy, myoclonic seizures, which causes twitches and many short seizures. There are many effects that MERRF causes, another is I have squeaks in my head which causes me to to slur my speach. My hips are becoming so weak, and with my twitching, and me becoming fatigued I have to quit working! After almost 19 years of Barbering, hip muscle strength is imperative. There is no cure or treatment at this time but we have hope for one day there will be! Simple tasks are becoming more difficult, causing me to need more assistance. I have applied for disability but I'm in the middle of waiting which who knows how long that will take. My wife, Felicia isn't working because she takes care of me and our 9 month old daughter, while advocating for me at doctor appointments, listening or asking questions. Currently I have physical therapy every week, plus many specialty appointments each week. We will soon be traveling to Chicago, Iowa City and eventually to Rochester, Minnesota causing expenses to quickly add up on top of our everyday bills while raising an infant. But after speaking with my Genetic Doctor we have learned it only passes thru maturanily, so my baby girl won't get it! I am letting peeps know my family and I are asking for support, prayers (if thats what you do) and strength to keep pushing for me and my family!
