Help Us Save Our Sweet Brownie

This is our beautiful little Brownie boy.

On Sunday, October 5, 2025, our world was turned upside down. My husband found Brownie lying on his side in the bathroom, paralyzed from the neck down. One moment he was his happy, playful self, and the next, he couldn’t move.

We rushed him to the emergency vet, after that he spent the next three days with our primary veterinarian. After testing and evaluation, we’ve been given three options:

1. Euthanasia

2. Spinal surgery at a specialist in Auburn, AL

3. Bring him home and hope for a miracle

My heart is absolutely shattered. I cannot give up on him, not when there’s a chance to save him. So even though it’s hard, I’m putting my pride aside and asking for help.

What Brownie Needs. . .

The veterinary neurology department in Auburn has told us Brownie needs an MRI and evaluation estimated at $2,000–$3,000. From there, spinal surgery will cost an additional $7,000–$9,000. These are best-case scenario numbers, but it’s the only chance he has at walking again…at living a full, happy life.

Why We Need Help. . .

Like many families, we’re doing our best. We’re very blessed to have what we have, but we’re also not in a position to afford such an unexpected expense. We are currently building a home, our oldest daughter is in her final year at JSU studying to become a teacher, and our youngest will soon begin preparing to begin her own journey toward becoming a nurse.

We simply cannot afford this on our own.

But what I can do is ask for help. . .no matter how hard it is to do.

Even if my husband gets mad when he sees this, I know in my heart I have to fight for our Brownie.

Who Brownie Is. . .

Brownie isn’t “just a dog.” He’s family.

He loves to snuggle. He rides shotgun in his dad’s truck. He thinks he can take on any big dog that crosses his path (even though he’s not much bigger than a loaf of bread). He’s got a chocolate lab sister and a pug brother who are completely lost without him.

Our home feels broken without him in it.
