On Jun 22nd, 2018, I was in a major car crash with four of my dear friends. We were on I-80 heading down to San Francisco and were right near the Reed exit; as we came up onto the overpass I noticed that all of the traffic ahead of us was at a complete standstill. By that point I realized that a crash was unavoidable as the cars were stopped only about 70 ft in front of us.
My dear friend Sam was in the center back seat and was the one who sustained the worst injury. His lower back was in immense pain and he was taken to the hospital where we found out he would have to have a spinal fusion surgery, which is when the vertebrae in one’s spine are fused together.
Sam’s surgery went well and he is beginning to recover however his family now faces the issue of how to pay medical expenses and all of the physical therapy that must follow. On average, a spinal fusion surgery in the United States costs $100,000 or more. The income from this GoFundMe would be so helpful to Sam and his family in this extremely tough and frightening time. Any little bit that could be donated would be so helpful towards reaching our goal.
