Give the gift of sight - Children's medical/surgical mission trip to Piura, Peru. June 7-14, 2014!!
This June, Drs. Todd Goldblum and Greg Ostrow are traveling with Vision Health International (visionhealth.org) to Peru to perform eye surgery for children who have crossed-eyes, droopy eyelids, eye/orbit tumors, blocked tear ducts and many other eye conditions. Piura is a vibrant city near the coast of northern Peru.
However, many children have significant vision impairment due to limited medical access. Last year we saw hundreds of children who needed eye surgery, but time and money limited the number of cases we could do. We promised the families who were turned away that we would return to finish up the job! So we are returning June 7-14, 2014.

There will be many more families examined and treated on this trip that have been waiting for our return. We must bring everything we need for this mission: sutures, instruments, gloves, gowns, medicines....but most importantly the people who make it happen: our doctors, nurses, orthoptist, and technicians. They are using their precious vacation time to help the children of Peru, but we need your help in paying for their travel expenses and other overhead costs.
Drs. Goldblum and Ostrow are paying their own way and chipping in for overhead costs. Our allied staff desperately needs funding to make this trip happen. From Albuquerque, we are bringing 2 wonderful nurses from the Univ of New Mexico Children's Hospital (Rachel Gallegos and Roxanne Baca) as well as our certified ophthalmic technician, Rachel Baca. From San Diego, we are bringing Laura Kirkeby (certified orthoptist) and Patty Esqueda (operating room technician). We need our team to get the job done, and our team needs your help getting there.
