Hi I’m Robin! I’m 23, non binary and trans masc. I’m a vet student and currently have a little hamster called Elrond!
I am hoping to raise some money for me to get top surgery this year. I had most of the money I needed saved but the cost has now gone up by £1500 (!!!) and so I will need help to be able to reach the surgery cost by September.
I am unable to work now due to starting uni rotations and will try to save as much as possible but am going to need your help to reach my goal.
Since I realised I was non binary when I was about 17 (and even before that) I’ve known that I need top surgery. The existence of my chest is incongruous with my identity and how I see myself.
I tried to hide my chest as much as possible as I grew up and this has gotten more difficult and distressing as my chest has gotten bigger. It causes me a lot of mental and physical distress and dysphoria (a feeling of discomfort or distress that can occur in people whose gender identity differs from their sex assigned at birth or sex-related physical characteristics).
This ranges from the dislike of the size of my chest and the pain that comes from having to bind my chest (flatten it) every day as well as the mental distress of having something there that I don’t believe should be there at all. My chest gives me discomfort when I’m in my own house as well as when I’m out in public and it definitely contributes to me being constantly perceived as a gender I am not.
While having top surgery won’t necessarily affect how others see me, that is not the point of the surgery. It is for ME. It will improve the quality of my life so so sooo much that I don’t think I can accurately put it into words!
Any amount you can give me towards my goal of achieving this, I will be forever grateful.
