Hi, my name is Ashley. I’m 33 years old, and I currently live in New Jersey with my husband and 2-year-old son.

To start, we’re having a really hard time with our finances because of hospital bills, medical bills for my husband (who is a type 1 diabetic), student loans, and our car engine dying and needing to take out another loan to get a new one. Not long after, our son was born the previous year. I had to quit my job because we had no family that lived close by who could help take care of the baby.

So, it’s been one thing after another, and to add insult to injury, my mom and stepdad sold the house we’d been living in since August of last year because we also lost our apartment. As of right now, we have been living in different hotels trying to call any housing authority, charity, or homeless shelter for help, and there has been absolutely nothing. Now we're having car troubles and my husband is in danger of losing his job.
