In September of 2016, Denise had major surgery to remove a nodule and a mass in her right lung. Denise was released on September 11th to return home and heal. On September 21st when she went in for her post-op doctor visit, they found that her right lung had collapsed. Since this date, Denise has been in and out of the hospital, fighting infections, trying to get an accurate diagnosis as to what was going on with her health. On December 30th, she was admitted to the University of Michigan for the second time since September, because her infection had become so serious, she wasn't able to walk on her own or hold her head up. After multiple surgeries, being in a coma, several antibiotics, kidney dialysis and getting nourishment from a feeding tube, Denise was finally released to come home and rehabilitate on February 3rd, 2017. She is excited to finally be home and around family, but she still has a long way to go and many hurdles to overcome. The medical bills haven't even started to come in yet. Denise will also need several major remodels done to her home to accommodate her RA as well as her healing and rehabilitation. We are so happy to have her home and want her only concern to be about getting back to being our old Denise! Thank you all for your help... Denise - You are loved! <3
