Greetings in Christ, this is Dan Kingsbury, WELS missionary living in Chiang Mai, Thailand.
About 4 weeks ago, my wife, Leona, was hit by a car while crossing the street. She woke up in the hospital with severe injuries, including internal bleeding in the abdomen, a lacerated liver, bleeding in the brain, a broken pelvis, and a broken arm. After 3 successful operations and 3 weeks in the hospital, she's finally home with me and the boys (Cornelius, 6, and Mars, 3). Praise God!
Leona is still unable to walk or use her right arm, so she needs someone to be around to help. The doctors are confident she'll walk again in 6 months or more.
We've been moved by all the prayers coming in. We believe the Father has heard your prayers and is not only encouraging us through your faith expressed in love, but He is watching over Leona's recovery too (Ps. 34:17-20).
A number of people have asked about giving to help us. So, I'm starting this to give an opportunity to those who'd like to give toward helping our family get through these next few months. While, like the Apostle Paul, we have the secret of being content in any and every situation (Phil. 4:12), we've certainly had a lot of unexpected expenses and will have many more in the next few months. Here are a few:
- Wheelchair
- Special chair for Leona to recline in
- Ordering in meals
- A cleaning lady to come (maybe full-time)
- Helping my parents fly over
- Transportation for our kids to get to school
- Physical therapist to come to our house
If you'd like to reach out to Leona, feel free to message her on Facebook or email her at [email redacted].
We are fundraising to help cover the unexpected expenses due to Leona's accident and ongoing recovery.
This fundraiser is for my wife, Leona, who was severely injured in a car accident.
