Best Family I have ever met.

Hello everybody, my name is Konrad. I'm just a simple plumber out of the San Francisco Bay Area  that has the privilege to know, work, and call my friends a group of extraordinary people. Even despite the coronavirus, they put themselves  at risk everyday to make sure that all sewers and water systems are running properly. It is said that Plumbers are responsible for the nation's health. Until recently, I didn't think much of it until I started working at ABLE Underground Construction. This company is involved in all aspects of residential, commercial, and industrial plumbing systems. The magnitude of projects that are done here really led me to understand how important Plumbers are to our society and to our infrastructure. These guys get down and dirty to make sure that your toilets, sinks, and water heaters are working properly and raw sewage is not flowing down your street.

Out of this fine group of people, one fine man really stands out. His name is Adrian Herrera. What struck me about Adrian was that he is very passionate about his work but even more passionate about his family. This young man is a great husband and wonderful father of 4 amazing children. My very first day at Able, Adrian was showing me the everyday jobs and training me in procedures. We worked on several small projects in the Palo Alto area. At lunch, he noticed that I didn't have anything to eat, ( it was my first day on the job, being nervous and all,  thought of bringing a lunch didn’t cross my mind ) Adrian Insisted that he would take me to lunch because “no one should go hungry while doing physical work”. I finally agreed and we went to eat. What surprised me, is instead of going to one of the fast food joints in the area, he took me to his home.

A small one bedroom apartment in the East Palo Alto area. Despite the small size this place was very clean, but what it really was, was amazing. It felt so cozy and so comfortable just like places from my childhood. Adrian introduced me to the person that made this place so wonderful, his better half, Saldina. They welcomed me with such kindness, I couldn't believe that people like this still exist. Saldina had a delicious traditional meal ready for us and their older children served it. The kids were so polite and so well behaved, I just could not believe it. I thought to myself, I've really never met people like this, people that took a stranger into their home and treated him like part of the family.

It wasn't too hard to understand that this place was filled with so much love, kindness, and respect for each other. I was truly amazed. I realized that Adrian and Saldina made their house a real home and treated anybody that came there like a part of the family. Absolutely the most wonderful family.

Today, Adrian called me crying over the phone, and told me that his wife was diagnosed with cancer. It choked me up and really hurt my heart to hear. I could not comprehend how or why God would allow such a great human being like Saldina, to have to go through such a serious form of cancer (ovarian). Why do bad things happen to such genuinely amazing people? I can't help but think that life is unfair. Since Adrian decided to try to apply for unemployment so he can stay home and take care of his wife and four children, his income has been greatly reduced. With the current coronavirus outbreak, there is no guarantee that he'll get any money.

I’ve decided to ask all of you for help. Please, let's help this wonderful family in their time of need. Help me raise $50,000 to cover their living expenses and hopefully a part of the treatment for Saldina. The purest hearts shouldn’t have to go through this. Anything will help and is greatly appreciated, even just a smile. Thank you.
