Dustin's Journey
Donation protected
On July 1, 2019 Dustin was in an accident that broke his lower leg bones just above the ankle. This break would lead him to the first surgery to stabilize with an external fixator. Dustin was in the fixator for about a month before he went back into surgery to place 2 plates and 14 screws. Shortly after, Dustin began to develop a serious bone infection due to not enough skin being able to cover all the metal hardware. This led to a 4 month battle to save his foot from amputation. Dustin had multiple medical visits each week for Wound Care, Orthopedics, Infectious Disease Specialist and more. After winning the "battle to save his foot", Dustin went back into surgery to remove the pins and plates.
Currently, Dustin is facing another possible surgery due to a re-occurrence of the infection. This accident has left Dustin unable to work for the last 7 months. To top it all off, this accident occurred just 2 weeks before Dustin was beginning his Health Insurance coverage through his position at work. The Go Fund Me page is to help Dustin cover the medical costs of his accident and his monthly living expenses.
