Blanca was found terrified and alone—hiding in a bush off Crenshaw in South LA, just trying to survive.

I first saw her dart across a small parking lot, vanishing into a patch of bushes. She was clearly frightened and unsure of the world around her. When I offered food, she wouldn’t come close. It took over 6 hours across two days, using patience, compassion, and very smelly meat, to slowly earn her trust. Bit by bit, she began eating from my hand. Eventually, I was able to slip a leash around her—and though she resisted, she soon realized I was there to help, not harm.

When I pulled Blanca from the bushes, it was heartbreaking: her small body was covered in fleas, bald patches, scabbed-over sores, a broken tooth, and she was skin and bones, her ribs clearly visible. After two deep-clean baths, I discovered that beneath the dirt was a beautiful white dog—hence the name Blanca.

But Blanca’s journey is just beginning. She needs urgent and ongoing medical care.
