Mark Schoephoerster Cancer Fund
Donation protected
Mark is a flight medic in the Minnesota Army National Guard. He has been deployed to Iraq since February 1, 2015. While overseas, he noticed a lump on his neck. He was moved to Germany and eventually to San Antonio Military Medical Center (SAMMC), where he was just diagnosed with stage IV squamous cell carcinoma. Mark is married and has four childre n ages 7 to 29.
Mark was very fortunate to have been diagnosed while on active duty, as he will receive all medical treatment free of charge, and he will continue to receive full military pay. However, there are many additional costs that will not be covered by the Army. Mark will remain at SAMMC for his treament, which at this time is expected to last at least 8-10 weeks. His wife Rebecca will be with him through most of the treatment and some of her lost time from work will be unpaid. Some travel expenses for family are being covered through charitable organizations, but certain costs are left to the family. Also, the Army has not authorized Mark to have a rental vehicle during his treatment, so if he wants his own transportation, a rental will be at his own expense. A rental car would make it easier for Mark to get to appointments, the gym, shopping, and to get off-post for leisure activities. Donations to this gofundme campaign would help offset the costs of family travel and a rental car for Mark during treatment.
Thank you for your support of the Schoephoerster family! It is truly appreciated!
