Coming Together for the Cummings'

It is with a heavy heart that I tell this story of a dear friend and loved one, Sherry Cummings.   It is tough to put out there as this is such a personal and private matter for Sherry, Bert and Kyle Cummings.

For those of you that don't know Sherry, here is a small glimpse of who she is.

Sherry is 43 yrs old.  She is the devoted wife of Bert Cummings and loving mother of 12yr old Kyle Cummings.  She loves them both fiercly.  They are her entire world and she theirs.   Her smile and laugh are infectious and you won't see a bigger smile on her face than when she is watching Kyle on the football or baseball field proudly wearing his practice jerseys.   While she is not on the Easton Recreation fields, she runs her own business  - Sherry Lynn Creations of gourment homemade fudge.  We thank her for the extra 10lbs we put on each year from all the scrumptious treats she brings us!

Sherry has been in the hospital since Sunday, August 23, 2015.  She was first admitted to Good Samaritan in Brockton. Her condition quickly deteriorated and by Monday morning she was moved to the ICU, Critical Care Unit and was fighting for her life.  After several frustrating days of unsuccessfully trying to figure out what was causing her illness, the medical teams made the decision to move her to Lahey Clinic via med flight on August 27th.

Sherry remains in the ICU at Lahey battling to win this fight. They have teams of doctors, nurses and specialists working around the clock to try and figure our what is causing her illness. These people have been amazing, yet are frustrated and baffled while searching for answers. There have been a couple of small encouraging signs here and there but still a long road of unknowns ahead.

MANY of you have been asking what can you do to help. Although they have health insurance, there will be a large amount (and still counting) that will not be covered. This is only exacerbated by the the daily gas expense to the hospital which is an hour away on a good day, parking and food costs for Bert as he tries to stay by Sherrys side as much as possible and try to keep a normal routine for Kyle at home. He has been such a rock and pillar of strength for Sherry, Kyle and all of their family members during this most indescribable situation.

If you are willing and able, this is where we can all help! Any support you can offer will take a huge weight off their shoulders and hopefully reduce any additional stress from worrying about finances through this long battle. This page is being set up so we can do just that.

**PLEASE share this with ANYONE & EVERYONE that has a connection with Sherry, Bert or Kyle and/or that is just willing to help pay it forward, but please also share it discreetly.  We ask that everyone do their best to continue to respect their privacy and the very personal nature of this situation.  As we all know, word travels fast and sometimes  get  misconstrued so we are also trying to keep the conversations about what is going on to a minimum for Kyles sake.  He knows his mother is very sick but whatever he hears should come from his father.

Every little bit of support helps and is greatly appreciated!

And of course, what they need most is prayers, so please keep those coming! Doesn't matter who you pray to...just please pray for her recovery.

Thank you!
