Hi! We are Mariana and Abby, a queer couple raising money to cover the costs to replace the catalytic converter that was sawed from Mariana's car.

On the morning of January 10th, Mariana discovered her car was making a loud sound when she started it to go to work. Unfortunately, we figured out that her catalytic converter had been sawed off during the night. Catalytic converters contain metals that fetch a high price on the resale market, and their theft is becoming more and more common. Mariana's car, which she fully relies on to get to and from work 25 minutes away, is undrivable until we get this fixed.

Our trusted mechanic quoted that it would be at least $1700 to replace, which our insurance will not cover. As booksellers, we live basically paycheck to paycheck, and our small savings can't come close to paying for a new catalytic converter on our own.

We're hoping to raise what we can to offset the cost of replacing the part, the installation of a protective cage to go over the new converter, GFM fees, and other costs that might come up during the repair. If, for some incredible reason, we exceed our goal, all excess funds will go to paying down bills!
