Flexible Seating in the Classroom
Donation protected
Flexible seating is beneficial in promoting student independence and enhancing focus. During lessons, independent work time, and collaborative projects, students will be allowed to choose a space in the room that best suits their needs. My students currently have limited options, but we make the best of the resources we have.
My students are tremendously more engaged and willing to collaborate when they are not restricted to their desks.
The products I have chosen for my class will aid in my student's learning and development by allowing them to have multiple options of where to work. I have chosen floor seating options (such as floor cushions and bean bags) to have students seated on the floor with tables I have lowered the legs on. I have chosen kick bands and seat cushions to utilize the chairs we already have. These products will help students focus their minds will still moving their bodies. I have chosen flex tables (picnic table, high top table) to provide spaces for student discussion and collaboration. Lastly, I have chosen an adult-sized chair for myself (and sometimes students) to sit during read-aloud and whole group lessons) as we currently only have child-sized furniture available in our classroom.
