Tania and AJ Memorial Scholarship Fund

On September 29th, 2013, my wife Tania Marisol Vercher and son, Alejandro Julian Vercher were involved in a car accident which took their lives. Tania died at the scene of the accident, while I spent the next 36 hours at the bedside of my son, only to learn that he would not recover. He passed away on September 30th, 2013.
In the days and months that have followed their loss, I have looked for meaning beyond their passing. Both of them meant not only the world to me, but to everyone who knew them.
The arts were important to them. Tania was a photographer whose worked touched the lives of many, and my son's fascination and love of music never ceased to amaze me.
Tania also had a saying, and that is that a little help from a lot of people becomes a lot of help. I believe this to be true, and so it is in their honor that I am beginning this campaign.
Through the help of many individuals, I am seeking to raise $50,000 to begin a set of scholarhips in their honor. Currently, I am working with my alma mater, the University of Louisiana at Lafayette and with Lamar State College Port Arthur on funding endowed scholarhips in their names.
It is my hope that through coming together to support this endeavor, we might offer others the opportunity to study the creative arts. The arts so richly blessed me and my family, and knowing others can be continually blessed in Tania and AJ's names means the world to me.
Yours in Music, as in Life,
Heath Vercher
