Kickin Cancer

Dear family and friends,

We hope you are doing well and are healthy.

This heartfelt fundraiser is for my younger brother Rick Taatjes.

He is 51 years old, has a wife, children and a grandchild.

In April, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Rectal Cancer.

Needless to say, he is bravely in the fight for his life! He has a SUPER positive attitude even though he is looking at a year of chemo, radiation and surgery.

He has been on short term disability since April and will eventually be on long term disability. Lynn, his beautiful wife, has and will miss work to take him to appointments, current treatments and future surgeries. They have to travel miles from their home for these services. Financial resources for day to day living expenses and travel are hard to determine but at this time we can foresee they will be extremely limited so we are reaching out for some help to ensure Rick and his family can focus on his health and recovery versus financial stress.

His family and friends are most important and near and dear in his heart. He is respected by his peers and community. He is a volunteer fire fighter above working full time (when he is able) and a self proclaimed comedian (quick wit and the best one liners).

We are rallying around and embracing him during this time. If are able to donate any amount, it will be appreciated beyond belief. On behalf of Rick and his family we thank you for positive vibes and prayers sent their way.

“Anyone who has met my brother will say he is the funniest and so down to earth. His calming manner will make anyone feel at ease, and of course laugh at all his one liners and impersonations. He will do anything for anyone and has the best attitude to tackle anything he needs to. When he is not at work or at home with his family, you will find him out fishing with friends or out on the golf course.”
