Steve needs help to get back on his feet

We are trying to raise some funds for a good friend, Mr Steve Alley ~ best known in the Seattle area as the Alley Cat dubbed from his good friends Alice. Steve suffered some major health issues and is having a hard time getting back on his feet. He is a beautiful person and his pride to ask for help is enormous so with the help of some friends we are trying to do this to give him some hope and assistance.
Here is some of Steve's story that was pretty hard for him to talk about let alone be so public with it. Please if its a dollar or two every bit helps ~ Thank You !
Steve's own words ~
I've been self-employed since 2000, as an independent subcontractor in the technology field. Unfortunately, the work slowed down enough to make life a challenge. No benefits, 401k, etc.
Towards the end of last year, I caught the flu. In rare occasions, that can turn you into an insulin-dependent type-1 diabetic. It's rare but lucky me. I took an ambulance ride to the hospital, where I was informed of my "luck". When I was admitted in the ER, I had a blood glucose level of 1,617 (normal range is between 70 and 140) and DKA (Diabetic Keto-Acidosis).
It took a week stay in the ICU to get me stabilized. When I was discharged, I was 60 pounds lighter and too weak to walk. As it turns out, the diabetic diet tends to induce gout, which I was lucky enough to contract as well.
Thru all of this, I was unable to work for over 2 months, and still can't do the job that I used to.
Since I haven't had a source of income, we've exhausted all of our savings, as well as sold everything we had of value. We're facing a power shut-off, as well as eviction with nowhere to go. This is our last chance.
