Or, may I quote Mrs. Stevens, our school Principal ,"it was announced that Ms. Jennifer Cheng, our very own science teacher, was honored to be included as a Faculty Fellow to the 2014 Student Climate & Conservation Congress, a program of the Green Schools Alliance in cooperation with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. As an educator who is passionate about environmental issues and works to increase environmental literacy among students, it is a privilege for her to participate as a U.S. Green School Faculty Fellow.
Ms Cheng is one of approximately 20 Faculty Fellows who has been selected from across the United States to represent our school and state at Sc3 2014, hosted by the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC) of the U.S. Department of the Interior, the nation's premier conservation training facility.
She will be traveling to Washington DC in late June with four of our students that have been honored as delegates from our school for the program. The students are Nicolas Rojas, Genavieve Mather, Brianna Carman and Christopher Figuracion.
We are so very proud of the work of Ms. Cheng and her students and we are very excited that her work has been recognized with this great honor!"
When we come back, we plan on implementing a GREEN SCHOOL model that will include already funded projects such as Garden, Composting, Recycling, Community Service and and Aquaponics;at this time we plan on adding Native Garden Species, Vertical Gardening, Air Quality Monitoring and Solar Panels installation. In order to tie together all these projects, we need to attend the National Student Climate and Conservation Congress to acquire skills and ideas in running a cohesive and integrative projects of the FIRST Environmentally Friendly Model GREEN SCHOOL on the West Coast.
