YUYA

Donation protected
“There are voices calling my name

Coming undone like whispering waves

Weaving into my skin”

She is the one who seeks,

the one who listens, the one who grieves amongst the chaos.

Still she goes and goes.

How many times do we repeat the wheel before she is freed?

Inspired by Yukio Mishiami’s Modern Noh play, YUYA is an original adaption of a traditional Japanese Noh drama written and directed by Kiyo Kamisawa. It is a story of a young women who tries to reunite with her mother while she confronts male oppression in two lifetimes:
In ancient Japan and modern day America.

This play was created by Kiyo in hopes of illuminating the unchanging  predicament that immigrants and women of color are facing today.
Inspired by the loss of her own mother, Kiyo hopes to stage this play in honor of her.

YUYA will run February 28th-March 3rd as part of the New York Theater Festival's Winterfest at the Hudson Guild Theater and with your donation, we can compensate our incredible actors and creative team who are putting their heart and soul in this passion project.

We would greatly appreciate any amount to help make YUYA happen this spring!
