As everyone prepares to celebrate the holidays this year, please take a few extra moments to count the gifts you have been given in life. And no I do not mean to count the gifts that are piling up under your Christmas trees. So often in life we take for granted the little gifts God gives us each day. The gifts of safety, stability, and health may often be overlooked in this consumer-based world. Spending your holidays surrounded by the ones that you love while sharing a hot meal is truly a gift on its own. On Sunday December 20th my cousin Lindsey and her husband Tim received their Christmas gift early in the form of their beautiful daughter Sabrina Rose. Shortly after, the doctors noticed that Sabrina was having trouble breathing and was having seizures. Sabrina has been transferred to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital where she will undergo more tests in order to determine what is causing the seizures and breathing issues, and what the next steps are for her treatment. For anyone who has had a child or a loved one in the NICU, you know that it will drain you physically, emotionally, and financially. So my request from all of you is to please keep Lindsey, Tim and Sabrina in your prayers. And if you have a little extra Christmas money to spare, please join me in giving them a gift. These gifts will be monumental for their little family as they tackle this obstacle. It will allow Sabrina’s parents to focus all of their time and energy to work with their medical team to create a plan to bring a happy, healthy Sabrina home.
