Many of you might know this guy as Dave, Davey, or the pizza guy (he even had license plates that said ‘pza man’). But to me, Dave is my big brother. Unfortunately on January 1st, 2025, he was almost my late brother. Around 4 am on New Year’s Day, Dave told his wife, Christina, that he was going to call an ambulance for himself because he didn’t feel right. This wasn’t an unfamiliar feeling, as Dave had a heart attack in 2017. He was able to answer a couple of questions before he had a full cardiac arrest. Thanks to the amazing paramedics for performing cpr and, eventually, using a defibrillator, Dave was brought back to life. He was even stable for a much needed stent procedure. However, another cardiac arrest followed that surgery. When, by the grace of God, his heart starting beating again, he was put into a medically induced coma to try and let his body heal. His body temp was brought down to 64 degrees as doctors were explaining to my sister-in-law and my family that this method may be the only shot he has. Between the lack of oxygen for a total of 30 minutes, the fact that this isn’t his first time in this predicament, and our genetic heart disease, Dave needed all the prayers, a lot of medicine, and basically a miracle for him to survive. Brain activity was a major concern, going forward. And, even if he woke up, he may not be the same Dave we know and love. Dave was slowly brought out of sedation and started making major improvements. He was even moved to acute care the day after he was fully brought out of sedation. One of his first sentences was ‘I can’t pay for any of this.’ So here we are. Going forward, with medical bills, rehabilitation, and his recovery time, Dave needs some help to get back on his feet. Any amount helps, and we thank you f the bottom of our hearts for your generosity.
