Recovery from surgery
Hello, my name is Andrew Wambold. I am currently in recovery at Methodist hospital. I have severe Crohn’s disease which caused major issues with my colon, bowel and intestines. I had to have an emergency surgery where they removed much of my small bowel and all of my large bowel. I have been stuck in the hospital now for over two weeks. Previous to this I started a new job at the Hilton downtown Des Moines. I was able to work three weeks before I had this emergency surgery and as such I have no paid time off or short term disability insurance. Now I have an ileostomy for at least the next 3 to 6 months which basically means I have a bag collecting bile that I have to empty many times a day and change often. I also am being sent home with a wound vac to control the 3-5 inch gaping wound in my stomach. This wound will need to be attended to by a home nurse 3 times a week. The doctors are unsure how long recovery will take and how soon, if at all I will be able to return to work. Due to all these factors I am creating this page to help me financially with rent, utilities and any other upcoming costs associated with this hospital visit and surgery. I appreciate any and all donations as I am still figuring out how I’m going to survive the next few months.
