Richard's Hope Chest

My name is Richard and approximately 2 years ago, I was diagnosed with Renal Cell Carcinoma. I'm 68 years old, married to the love-of-my-life. We share children, siblings, a bunch of grandchildren and a love life in general.

It goes without saying that the cancer diagnosis was a real blow to the "plans" I had for my golden years with my family. However, we determined to make the best of it and searched high and low for the best possible care, either western traditional medicine or an alternative treatment that would halt the progress of the cancer.

Fortunately, we were able to find an amazing Doctor and hospital with impeccable care provided by a myriad of staff. Unfortunately, even with all of the love and care we received, cancer was determined to outwit even the brightest, most educated surgeons and oncologist.

My C-T scans, PET scans and blood work revealed metastasis to my right lung and brain stem, so we plunged even further into our battle to put an end to this foe called cancer by cutting, burning and swallowing various colored pills in an attempt to kill the beast and snatch my life out of its clutches.

My doctors tell me now, that there are precious few options for treatment at this time. I can continue to submit to radiation, try an experimental drug with an unbelievable list of side effects, or do nothing.

And so we headed forward, continuing to look for solutions and have thankfully found a respite and possibly a cure for our efforts. A drug not approved of in the US and yet widely used with amazing success in all other parts of the world.

The drug is Rigvir and the treatment is called: virotherapy. The closest place to obtain the drug and treatment is in Mexico and as you might guess, quite expensive. The drug alone is $10,000. A 3-week round of treatment cost, $29,000. We might be considered for a shorter course of treatment to reduce our financial load to, $22,000:if my test results determine the shorter course will be effective.

This is the reason for our fund-raising. We are not able to come up with the monies needed for my care and medication. Insurance will not consider paying for unapproved drugs/treatments and it is imperative to start the course of Rigvir sooner than later to affect a cure.

I'm NOT finished fighting for my life. I am excited about this new drug and living out a full healthy life.

I will make every effort to work with physicians, government officials and campaign to make this drug available in the US. Now is the time for our politicians and local and federal governments to take a closer look at real cures, such as this, and give hope to cancer patients and their families.

I respectfully ask that you consider giving to my fund, any amount that you can manage. We are so grateful and will use 100% of the monies for treatment only. Thank you in advance for your contribution and your love
