A Second Chance for my Mom and I

Donation protected
Hi. My name is Philip Aw Chun Kit. I came from a low income family but happy. However, things started to change from the start of 2016. My parent's F&B business started to fail and in a blink of an eye, we were badly in debts. On Nov 2016, my dad sold off our one and only family house to clear half of the debts.

We thought we will be able to settle all the debts because me and my dad started took up 2 jobs per day. My dad worked as a waiter during day and security guard during night for 12 hours from 7pm to 7am. On June 2017, my dad complained of extreme stomach pain after dinner. I brought him to clinic and the doctor advised him to go to the hospital. He was admitted for more than a week and underwent a few type scans.

Finally, the result was out and we are devastated by the news. My dad had colon cancer. My dad decided to underwent surgery. He was in the ICU for approximately a week after the surgery. My dad's condition deteriorated very fast. He passed away at dawn on 4th Feb 2018 when we were not by his side. I was not able to see my dad breathe his last breath.

On Sep 2018, the house that we were renting was sold by the owner. We borrowed money with extreme high interest rate like weekly interest payment without deducting principal to pay deposit of new rented house. By end of last year, my mom lost her job and everything started gone wrong again. I told my mom recently that I would like to end my life so that she can get my retirement scheme from the government to pay off all the debts and start a new life for herself. My mom is 63 years old this year. She strongly objected my idea and begged me not to end my life. If this campaign is successful, we will use the money to clear the debts and also 3 months backlog rental payment. I decided to give this a try when talking to befrienders.

Update:

Hi people, I would like to share on what had happened in our lives for the past 1 and a half years after this campaign was started. From the amount collected earlier, we have used it to clear part of our debts and also previous house rentals.

Unfortunately we are not able to renew the contract with the landlord cause our payment was not on time hence the landlord decided not to renew our contract. Last year was another unfortunate year for us because I got into a motorbike accident and lost my bike due to the damage. My mom had a fall and had to undergo hip replacement surgery

. I've spent RM9000 for her operation cost. And another RM4000 for 2 months stay in nursing home. I do not have a choice but to take up more loan again because the doctor said operation need to be done ASAP or else the injury will be permanent and risk of operation will be higher. Due to that, my mom also lost her job for whole of last year.

As much as I want to help us to get back to normality, I really hope we can use this GoFundMe opportunity for us to get back up and start living normally. We have been hit hard once again after my father's passing.

Things had not been going well and it is very depressing for my mom and me. I plead for your generosity and kindness to help us go through this.

We still have remaining debt of RM12000 which is equivalent to about US$3000 at the moment. If we manage to collect the US$3000, US$2000 will be to clear the debt and I will use the remaining US$1000 to purchase a used motorbike so that I can work as part time delivery rider to help us lessen our burden and start a new life.

Thank you everyone.
