Bambi's veterinarian expenses

Donation protected
Bambi is a 4 year old female pomeranian who joined our rescue in April 2014.  She is full of energy and the sweetest most loving little girl.

Bambi was booked to have her spay completed, along with her dental.  At just 4 years old, all of our her teeth are completely rotten.  When she arrived, it was noted she has a constant and very heavy pant.  The previous owner had indicated this heavy pant started after the debarking surgery that was done on her.  She points her head upwards like she is trying to breathe easier.

When she went in for surgery the vet did blood work to confirm she was healthy to be put under.  The blood work all came out good.  They went to proceed with putting her under and could not get the tube into her throat.  They did an X-ray and discovered she had a large lump/mass in her throat blocking her airway.  They would not be able to put her under with the tube and used the mask so they were able to complete her spay.  They could not do her dental.

What this means now is, she will need to be booked with a specialist to have the lump removed and biopsied. We originally had thought surgery could be completed by a different vet office in Kamloops but have since found out that this specialist will need to perform the surgery at a very high cost.  Without the surgery she will continue to always pant heavily and is recommended she do absolutely no exercise.  If she over extends herself causing herself to pant more, it could block her airway completely.  She can't go without this surgery.  This surery alone is estimated at $2,300.  It could be more, it could be less.  We are also asking for assistance with her 3rd surgery which will be the much needed dental.  This lump needs to be removed and the sad news is there is always the chance of it growing back and her needing the surgery again in the future.

As a rescue we need help.  We care for these little ones based on the donations made by people like yourselves who love these little ones.  This expense is definitely not something we expected, but wouldn't have it any other way.  We can only do what is needed to help this little girl to be healthy and loved in her new life (once she is healthy and surgeries have been completed she will be available for adoption).  Please consider helping Bambi start her new life and get this much needed surgery.  You can visit our website at www.pommycountry.com or on Facebook - Pommy Country Rescue.

Bambi's surgery has been booked for Tuesday June 17 with the specialist.
