Josie Needs Emergency Surgery

Hello, my name is Josie. I'm just a 3-year-old Great Pyrenees, and my life has been filled with pain and neglect before my new forever home rescued me. The family I first belonged to treated me so unkindly – screams, kicks, and forgetfulness about feeding me were all I knew. Left outside with a chain around my neck, my days were a blur of suffering.

I fell ill, and at first, it wasn't too bad. I tried to tell them, but my pleas fell on deaf ears. My ear throbbed with pain, emitting a foul smell and oozing discomfort. They ignored my suffering as months passed, and I grew weaker.

Then, my new human mommy came into my life, whisking me away from the torment. Despite the cruelty I endured, leaving the only home I knew was scary. My new mom was angry, scolding the family that had mistreated me, and taking me away to a place of uncertainty.

When I arrived at my new home, fear still clung to me, and my ear continued to ache relentlessly. My new mom recognized my suffering, thinking I had mange. Rushing me to the veterinary emergency room, they discovered a severe skin infection all over my body and in my right ear – the source of my agony.

Finally in my new home, the warmth and safety indoors were alien to me. I was allowed to sleep inside, a luxury I had never known. Though kindness surrounded me, I couldn't help but flinch at every outreached hand, conditioned to expect pain. Surprisingly, the hits never came. It took a long time for me to feel safe, but eventually, I did.

Meeting my new brother, Antony, opened my eyes to a world of treats, bones, and toys. My new family showered me with love and care, even dressing me in cute dresses to keep me warm. Despite their efforts, my ear infection persisted, leading to complications that now threaten my well-being.

Recently attacked by another dog, the injuries have exacerbated my condition. The infection has spread, causing my ear canal to close, pushing into my head, and affecting my eye. The doctor recommends a costly surgery – a Total Ear Canal Ablation and Bulla Osteotomy – to rid me of the pain.

The price tag of $9,000 looms over my human mommy, who has already sacrificed so much for my recovery. We humbly ask for your help. Your contribution will not only fund my surgery but potentially cover unforeseen complications in my journey to a pain-free life. My doctor is Dr. Osmond from VCA California Specialists-Carlsbad, if anyone wants to donate directly to help me get my much needed surgery.

Can you find it in your heart to help my mommy and me through this challenging time?
