Sophie Locquiao just turned 11 on December 28, 2016. She's a happy-go-lucky girl, energetic, soccer player--just like any average 5th grader. At the start of her winter break, she caught what her family thought was the common flu. A week later, her family suspected something else is going on with Sophie's little body. She became despondent, unable to focus and unable to talk. Her mind was somewhere else. She just wasn't Sophie anymore.
Her parents had taken her to El Camino Hospital only to be sent home. The tests they ran were inconclusive. She was sent home with severe dehydration.
After her trip to el Camino hospital, her symptoms worsen to memory deficits/loss, tremors, psychosis, difficulty swallowing- all of which are frightening to any parent.
Her family, desperate to see what was really going on with Sophie, rushed to the ER at Stanford's Children Hospital the next day. Here, they worked on a spinal tap to check the fluids in Sophie's body and an MRI to check for tumors.
All tests points to Sophie having anti-nmda receptor encephalitis. Sophie is currently in the hospital fighting to return to normal.

Her condition is potentially lethal but with early treatments there is a high probability for recovery. The process for recovery can take many months.
At Stanford, there's hope for Sophie's recovery, but that's where these funds come in. With the medical bills piling up, these funds will help go towards those bills and will help find a treatment for her recovery.
Please help us in sending prayers and good positive engergy for a speedy recovery. We hope to see our Sophie back on the soccer field soon to kick some balls or anything that gets in her way. She is a fighter!
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
