Michael's Medical Recovery

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Billy, Michael Swyers' son. On Friday, August 8th, my father got into a pretty serious accident. I had flown out to visit him in his new hometown of Sylvan Lake, Alberta for the weekend. The night of the 8th, we had gone down to the bar for some drinks. We decided the best way to get home was to take an E-scooter that you can rent for cheap and did just that. The events that unfolded are blurry at best but what we do know is that my father fell off the E-scooter and had hit his head on the pavement. He was found unconscious lying in the middle of the road and him and I were rushed by ambulance to the Red Deer Regional Hospital in Red Deer, Alberta. From there it was found that the membrane between his skull and brain had been bleeding along with multiple other skull fractures. They air lifted him from Red Deer Regional Hospital to The Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Alberta, where they performed emergency surgery, removing a piece of his skull to remove the blood clotting below his skull. He resided in the ICU at Foothills until the next night, where he was moved to the neurology ward and he remains there today. Unsure of outcomes, his family including myself and my girlfriend, my brother Brad, his sister Susan, and his girlfriend Nicole, have travelled to Calgary to be by his side through recovery. Through airfare, driving, stays, and other essentials, costs of being in Calgary to support Michael are quickly adding up. Nicole is driving back and forth everyday from the Red Deer area to help out with his recovery, and his sister Susan travelled the night of the accident all the way from Toronto to be by his side. All we are asking for is some support in his recovery journey as we are not sure of his life after discharge from the hospital and what will come for expenses as he may need physio or help getting around for basic needs. All proceeds of this Gofundme will go towards supporting his family around him and towards his life and recovery after the hospital. This is obviously a tragic accident that couldn't have been foreseen so the suddenness has been quite hard for all of us to comprehend. If you can help out in anyway, even by sharing this fundraiser, it would be greatly appreciated by all people who care about Michael and his recovery.
