My dad, Keith Nickerson, husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle and nephew is 57 years old. He prides himself on being a Lab Technician for Pratt & Whitney, an avid fisherman, outdoors-man, and craftsman.
On February 20th, two days after my 21st birthday, our lives changed forever. My father came home from his doctor's appointment to tell me that he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Since that dreaded evening, he left our home to begin immediate aggressive chemotherapy, with several blood transfusions, at Montefiore Medical Center, Bronx, N.Y. Nothing could have prepared us for this battle.
I am asking for your help because, as you can imagine, our family needs to focus all of our energy on helping my dad through his treatments. Travel and medical expenses alone will begin to add up quickly, as he will spend the next several weeks in the hospital and additional weeks in the foreseeable future. In addition to the inevitable stress of my mother working two jobs, myself attending college full-time and traveling back and forth to the hospital, we will need to manage the financial strain of medical bills.
Anything you can possibly contribute, no matter how seemingly small, will be a great help to our family and deeply appreciated by all who love him.
