Felicia Hickey fund

About two weeks ago, my friend and coworker Felicia Hickey, an active 20 year old girl, started experiencing blurred vision. Nervously she called her mom, Christine fearing something was very wrong . Her eyes were beginning to cross and she had a severe heachache.
Her Mother took her to her to her primary care doctor who then referred her to an optical specialist.. The specialist told them to immediately take Felicia to an Emergency Room. Felicia underwent an MRI and a CT Scan . They were told that the diagnosis was a condition called 3rd Cranial Nerve Palsy and it would eventually go away on its own and that a Neurologist would follow up with them.

Over the next few days, Felicia could not open her right eye.. She was feeling confused and disoriented.. A phone call to the family doctor directed her back to the ER for a second stay, where she was told that the diagnosis was the same and there was no medication that could be given and nothing more would be done. Felicia was sent home for the second time.

Things got progressively worse very quickly. Her thoughts were scrambled and her words were not making sense. Her father was frightened when he found her curled up in a ball laughing hysterically by herself.. . They rushed her to a different ER..An Mri now showed she had multiple lesions all over her brain. She was admitted immediately . She continued to deteriorate over the course of the next few days.... During this time her parents were being told many contradictory things by the various medical staff that were in and out of her room. At one point they were told she could have a brain infection..
She was started on a course of steroids and has made some progress. She is very weak and tired and appears to have short term memory loss. She is talking but is very confused and disoriented .The diagnosis at this time is Multiple Sclerosis. An occupational therapist said she is unable to get around on her own right now.. She is waiting to be sent to a rehabilitation center.. She will be out of work for quite awhile according to her doctors.

Her mother has taken over the care of her two year son Adrian. Christine is doing a great job of caring for Adrian as well as her own children but it has not been easy at all. Christine has to work and go to the hospital to advocate for and be with Felicia. This has been an extremely scary and trying time for all of Felicia's family. She and Adrian will need to move back home with her mom when she gets out of rehab.
Christine is going to need to cut back at work to take care of everyone. The family was already struggling and this is a huge set back for them. They are a very kind and caring family and they are in desperate need of help at this very stressful time in their lives.
Multiple Sclerosis is a lifelong disease that can hopefully be treated with medication, but it is very often debilitating. Felicia and Christine are always the first to help when anyone is in need.
If any family and friends could help ease the financial struggle for this family in need of support, they would be so grateful.. Thank you :)
