Recently, Lisa received the devastating diagnosis of bladder cancer. On the 21st of April, Lisa underwent surgery to remove the tumour from her bladder and was given the news that this cancer has a 70% chance of returning within the next 2-5 years. She will have to have a cystoscopy every 3-6 months for the next few years to track her bladder. For the next 6-8 weeks Lisa will be put on rest to heal from her surgery. Once she is healed, she'll then have to have a hysterectomy as they found abnormal cells in her uterus. Lisa has also been given news that she now has a spot on her kidney.

Anyone who has the privilege of knowing Lisa knows that she is the person who always shows up: through Bags of Hope where she handed out bags for cancer patients, organizing community events, a backpack program, Christmas Hampers, and offering warm meals to anyone in need.

Right now, she is facing one of the toughest battles of her life. Along with the physical fight comes the financial burden of being off work the past two months, and will need to be off for the next few months for more surgeries, treatments and recovering.

As Lisa takes the necessary time away from work to focus entirely on her health and recovery, the everyday expenses are mounting and it is our turn to step up for her.
