Equipment for Joseph

Joseph is a very happy 4 year old little boy with an amazing smile and contagious giggle.

He was born on the 19th December 2009 after a healthy pregnancy. Joe’s entrance into this world was a difficult one, which left Joe starved of oxygen for a prolonged period of time, resulting in Joe Joe spending the next six weeks in the special care baby unit.
Joseph has severe brain damage, leaving him with complex needs. His primary diagnosis is Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy-Grade 3 (HIE), leaving him affected by the following conditions; Microcephaly, Global Development Delays, Hypertonia with Hypotonia, Epilepsy, Gastroesophageal Reflux, Cerebral Palsy (quad, dystonia and athitoid), Hyposalivation, Cerebral Irritability and Hypersensitivity Issues. Joseph’s physical and mental development has been extremely affected due to his birth injury, leaving him unable to walk, talk, stand, crawl, sit or hold his head up, he is also fully dependent on a feeding tube as he is unable to swallow, eat or drink orally. All of which has resulted in him requiring 24 hour care.

We have set up this site in an attempt to raise funds for some items of equipment to improve Joseph's quality of life as much as possible by making him as comfortable and as safe as we can, some of which are listed below;

A 'p' pod seat which is a comfy chair for Joe to relax in, with a base on wheels to enable Joseph to be moved from room to room in safety and comfort. He has outgrown the one he has.
A sleep pod which is similar design to the 'p' pod seat but will ensure a comfy and safe position for Joe to sleep and relax in.
A specialised car seat, as with Joseph having no control over his movements it is becoming increasingly difficult to safely transfer him in and out of the usual car seats available on the high street, a problem that is intensifying as he continues to develop, getting taller and heavier. The specialist seat will have a swivel action with additional support and straps to hold him firmly without causing pressure problems.

Wow what a great night we all had at the Fashion Show on 19th September.

As promised there were lots of bargains to be had, good quality clothes at really discounted prices.
Andrea and myself would like to thank all those who came along on the night to support us in our efforts to raise money for Joseph’s Fund, as without them there would have been no fashion show. We would also like to thank all our family and friends for all their help and support, plus thank you to all those who bought; fashion show tickets, raffle tickets or gave donations it really is appreciated. A quick thumbs up to Selina for selling the highest number of fashion show tickets and to Peter for selling the highest number of raffle tickets.
A very special ‘Thank You’ goes to Chris Hamilton (Chairman of ORLFC) for sending us two of their star players Nathan Mason & Dave Cookson, also David (pls get my good side) Murgatroyd (ORLFC Official Photographer), guys you were great, we cannot wait to see the photographs. Plus good luck to the team today (21/09/14) as they go off to play the York Knights, we are all routing for you.
Thank you’s to all the local shops and stores, plus company’s and business that generously donated prizes for our raffle, sorry too many to mention by name.
On the evening we were joined by Helen from Ma’s Bars plus we also had a cake and loom band stall, again thanks to all who helped with these.
The total amount raised on the night itself was just short of £400.00 which was brilliant and brought the total money raised for the Fashion Show to a tremendous £1264.18.
One final thank you goes to Billy-Paul & Sarah for the beautiful flowers and cards you presented to both of us at the end of the evening.
Please keep checking the site as we hope to add some photographs of the evening at a later date.

Joseph now has his new Ppod chair and base and he loves it (see the photo at the top of the page).  This is all down to all you wonderful people who have support our campaign. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL.

Thank you so much for taking time to read about Joseph and about the items we are trying to purchase for him xx.
